| We
have many opportunities for you to contribute work
and resources to this web site and the projects associated
with it.
If
you have any information about upcoming events in
the Bay Area to which you would like to draw our attention,
please send information to info@gen-o.com
If
you have a review of an event that you would like
to be considered for inclusion on the web site, please
e-mail it to submissions@gen-o.com
You can also share reviews of events and art on our
Literary Discussion Forum.
OLIO
MAGAZINE
There is much to be done with the magazine. Some of
the ways you can help us are outlined below.
SUBSCRIBE
Subscription information will be available after we
do some math. If you are interested in subscribing,
please send e-mail to oliosubscribe@gen-o.com,
and we will contact you with information after performing
the aforementioned calculations.
SUBMIT
YOUR WORK
We are currently looking for fiction—short stories
or excerpts from larger works—book and music
reviews, interviews, essays on art, essays on other
topics, photography, and black and white line art
illustrations. All work must come from artists who
have some sort of connection to the San Francisco
Bay Area. Those connections can be tenuous. Prose
can be submitted as e-mail attachments (.doc or .pdf)
to submissions@gen-o.com
with OLIO SUBMISSIONS in the subject line. Please
include some brief info about yourself with your submission—your
favorite flavor of ice cream, perhaps. Photography
should be submitted by snail mail. To discuss your
submission and obtain our address, please e-mail Boone
at bs@boonespooner.com.
WORK
FOR US
We are currently looking for a couple additional editors
for the Essay and Review sections of the magazine.
Because we view text as a design element, editors
should not only be proficient with words, but they
should also have a fair amount of experience with
layout work and be familiar using QuarkXPress. We
are also looking for graphic artists and illustrators.
All positions involve no pay, but lots of fun. Editors
should be based in the San Francisco area, while others
can be based anywhere with a computer and an internet
connection. Interested parties can send application
letters in plain text to oliojobs@gen-o.com.
INTERN
AT OLIO MAGAZINE
We are looking for a couple interns to perform varied
tasks. Interns will be responsible for obtaining information—through
phone calls, e-mails and web research—for our
monthly calendar of San Francisco arts events. They
will also be partly responsible for compiling the
calendar and writing its copy text. Other duties may
include planning events and writing larger pieces
for the magazine. Those who are interested in this
position must want to work in publishing, enjoy laughs,
be comfortable using computers, posess strong written
communication skills, and have a strong commitment
to the arts. Interested parties may e-mail application
letters to oliointernships@gen-o.com.
IF
YOU WOULD LIKE WORK CONSIDERED FOR REVIEW
If you are an artist or a publisher of books or music
and would like your work considered for review in
the magazine, please send review copies and CD's to
the following address:
Olio Magazine
663 Degraw St., #1
Brooklyn, NY 11217
IF
YOUR VENUE HOSTS EVENTS
If your music venue, museum, gallery, bookstore, or
theatre is hosting events that you would like us to
include in our calendar, please send information to
events@gen-o.com.
IF
YOU WOULD LIKE TO DONATE
In addition to monetary donations, we can use a limited
number of Macintosh G3 and G4 computers and displays
in good working condition. To discuss the possibility
of donating money or equipment, please send e-mail
to Boone Spooner at bs@boonespooner.com.
